The Open Hand of God

Letting Go:

HANI (m) "happy" from Arabic hani'a. HANNAH (f) "favour" or "grace" (Hebrew).

Jesus:

The Characteristics of the Open Hand of God:

  1. The hand of Jesus Christ is nailed open on the cross. Fixed in the open position.

  2. The open hand holds ALL things. This addresses the optimistic, positive, YES nature of God. This is faith.

  3. It can lift one up.

  4. It can strike in wrath.

  5. It is always open to everybody.

  6. Because it is open, it holds onto nothing - grasps nothing. It keeps no record of wrongs.

  7. The hand of Jesus Christ is open to heal, but, one has to come to Him to be healed. The person coming to Christ must come to Him with the open attitude of Faith. Jesus does not come unless He is invited.

  8. The hand of God is open - not grasping or clinging or clutching. The open hand is freedom. This freedom is found in the action of a persons' will to stay in the hand of God. God does not force a person to stay in his hand. If a person deep in his heart decides he no longer wants to stay in the hand of God - that person is free to go. To stay or to go - this is the free-will choice God gives us all.

  9. God's knowing all events, all choices, and all the consequences of those actions...good or bad...encompassing the full range of all human and universal events...illustrates free will is the result of limitless knowledge...

  10. To stay in the hand of God, a person must actively let go of sensual desire/lusts/temptations. You must believe in freedom to be free. Jesus is Liberty and Salvation from temptations and sin.

The Characteristics of the Open Hand of a Christian:

  1. We must hold onto nothing, and let nothing hold onto us.

[Mark 11:25] And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

[Mat 6:14, 15] For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

  2. The open hand optimistically holds ALL things. And yet is held by nothing. This also obligates the believer to handle all things with love and respect. Take good care of the things put into your hands. This is the right thing to do.

  3. You may say: but only God can hold all things. I say: to keep an open handed attitude about all things in life is Godly and Christ like. Like God.

  4. The open hand graciously receives things and freely gives.

  5. The open hand is limitless. Everything is up.

  6. To commit yourself to Christ in faith, hope, and love - obligates a believer for the responsible care of the Universe.

[Phil 4:13.4] I can do all things in him who strengthens me.

[John 13:3.8] Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God,

[Pss 8:6.15] Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet,

  7. Grasping, clutching, gripping - these things are fearful, anxious, anxiety, etc... Not Godly.

  8. Evil is turning away and closing your hand to God. Evil endeavors to grip you in such a way as to make you believe you can never be free again. Evil is addictive and enslaving. Confessing and renouncing evil opens the hand to God. The truth will set you free.

  9. The open hand is friendly, as in a hand shake. A sign of peace, justice, and love.

  10. A marked personality trait all Christians should have is: openness. One of my friends asked his grandmother, who was in her 90's, a life long Christian, what word could sum up her life experience with God? She said: be flexible. Be flexible and open.

  11. The reason why your gut is churning over some issue is: you are fighting God. Rebellion is ugly. It is being closed to God..

  12. We must treat all of life with an open hand. To hold all that God has given us in an open hand. Free to give, free to receive. And when God takes something out of our hands to say:

[Job 1:21] And he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."

  13. Without complaint, without grumbling. To humbly submit to authority, perhaps even as Christ submitted - without complaint or grumbling - to the authority of the High priest.

  14. To close your hand to God is a bad thing. To say YES to God is faith, peace, justice, and love.

  15. I was just watching the movie "Armageddon". At one point a scientist is telling a group of people exactly what happens if you hold a fire-cracker in your open hand - and it explodes. You just get a little burn. But if you hold your hand tightly shut, you will loose your hand.

[Jer 20:9] If I say, "I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name," there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.

All Glory and Honor are yours Almighty One, forever and ever, Amen!
