The Wisdom of the Mongoose
[John 15:13.17] Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
[1Pet 5:8.9] Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
[Luke 3:18.7] So, with many other exhortations, he preached good news to the people.
[Mat 23:37.2] "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!
[Rom 5:8.14] But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
[1John 4:8] He who does not love does not know God; for God is love.
[1 Cor 13:6,7] Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
[Proverbs 16:18] Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
[2 Corinthians 12:9] But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
Sanctification: "Believers find that their life is a constant warfare, and they need to take the kingdom of heaven by storm, and watch while they pray. They are always subject to the constant chastisement of their Father's loving hand, which can only be designed to correct their imperfections and to confirm their graces. And it has been notoriously the fact that the best Christians have been those who have been the least prone to claim the attainment of perfection for themselves.", Hodge's Outlines.
...Jesus took on all of our sins on the cross...When we eat Jesus in the Lord's Supper, we are eating our sins...[John 6:53] So Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you;...This is how your sins go away:...[Mat 15:17] Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and so passes on?...
...i believe eating Him and drinking Him is the most evil for the most good - remember - he became sin for us, so that our sin would be hammered to the cross and die there...[Col 2:14] having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
[Hebrews 6:4-8] It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.
[Mat 12:43-45] "When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, but he finds none. Then he says, `I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and brings with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be also with this evil generation."
That it is easy to connect Bible verses with the behavior of the Mongoose, testifies to the validity of what is taught in scripture. That a animal - by instinct - knows the Law of God and obeys it, says the Law of God is written in the DNA of all livings creatures. Those who obey the Love of God are blessed, those who do not, die.
